Jordan Brand Releasing Two "Baseball Glove" Air Jordan 9s

Jordan Brand has already released a few retro Air Jordans in honor of the Birmingham Barons, the Chicago White Sox's Double-A affiliate that Michael Jordan played for during his brief stint away from basketball, but they're not done honoring MJ's love of baseball yet. Leaked images of two brand new Air Jordan 9s have surfaced, each of which features a premium leather build and stitching inspired by a baseball glove. There's a brown glove colorway that features a #35 on the heel, referencing the number Jordan wore with the Scottsdale Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League in 1994. Additionally, there's a similarly built "Barons" black pair that has the more familiar #45 on the heel. Details regarding the "Baseball Glove" 9s have not been announced but rumors suggest the "Baseball Glove" 9s will be very limited.

Air Jordans Will Come Wrapped Up Like Baseball Cards

For the Air Jordan 9 Retro Pinnacle, Jordan Brand decided to create a two-pack inspired by the profession Michael Jordan took up when he retired from basketball in 1993. As previewed last week, the shoes in the collection feature premium leather uppers inspired by actual baseball gloves and the team Jordan suited up for—the Birmingham Barons. Each pair features glove-style woven lacing along the side panels, while Jordan's baseball number '45' is embroidered on the heels. So, it sounds like there's a possibility that like baseball cards, you won't know which colorway you've purchased until you open your pair. If that's the case, it's a smart way to get collectors buy multiple pairs. As of now, the release date hasn't been announced, but we'll continue to follow the story here at Sole Collector.
